Community leaders and friends gathered to honor the accomplishments of 42 professional women as part of the Women’s and Children’s Alliance tribute held last week.

“These remarkable women are being honored by their corporations and their peers for their professional and civic achievements,” said WCA executive director Janice Johnson.
The luncheon acknowledged the accomplishments and provided each recipient with an award.
Johnson, speaking at the event, said she was pleased to have been a part of the organization as executive director.
She is stepping down from the position.
“We may not have ended domestic violence, but we ended the fear,” she told the group of about 400 people. “We’ve given mom’s choices and opportunities. If we ended fear that’s a great testament as to what we can do. I may be leaving but that doesn’t stop the support of the WCA.”
WCA has hosted this honor for professional women for the past 15 years; since the first awards luncheon in 1994, TWIN has recognized a total of 558 women, and more than 400 corporations and organizations have supported the event.
A list of this year’s recipients can be seen at www.wcaboise.org/TWIN.html.
The WCA operates two secure shelters and two transitional homes for women and children escaping violence, and offers professional counseling, court advocacy and community outreach.
