WellPoint NextRx, the nation’s largest health plan-owned pharmacy benefits manager, has signed a five-year agreement with Blue Cross of Idaho to serve as the pharmacy benefits manager for nearly 550,000 members. According to a release, NextRx has served as PBM for Blue Cross of Idaho, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, since 1997 and the renewal of this contract will extend this agreement for an additional five years.

Under the agreement, NextRx will continue to provide Blue Cross of

Idaho with pharmacy benefits management services for their individual, group and Medicare Part D members. Blue Cross of Idaho will use NextRx’s management systems to provide claims processing, network management mail services, and prior authorization services. WellPoint NextRx will also support the plan’s clinical programs, drug utilization review and formulary management.
