Officials from St Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute and Mercy Medical Center in Nampa have entered into a partnership to enhance cancer services provided in the Western Treasure Valley.  “St. Luke’s and Mercy Medical Center have long been aware that population growth in Canyon County is impacting area hospitals’ and health care providers’ ability to provide appropriate, high-level care when and where it is needed most,” according to Joe Messmer, President & CEO of Mercy. “This is particularly the case when it comes to cancer, which is one of the most expensive diseases to treat due to the high cost of associated drugs and technology.”

By forming a partnership, St. Luke’s MSTI and Mercy Medical Center hope to be able to provide a comprehensive continuum of care for patients, from diagnostics and outpatient treatment at MSTI to diagnostics and inpatient care at Mercy.

Officials from both organizations stated the level and quality of patient care at St. Luke’s MSTI Nampa will not change. St. Luke’s MSTI maintains full operational control and is wholly responsible for management of day-to-day operations of the staff and facility, while a volunteer board of directors comprised of both St. Luke’s and Mercy leaders has been formed to govern the new partnership.
