Whitetail Club and Resort in McCall is under new ownership, the McCall Star-News reported in its Aug. 28 issue.
A story by Tom Grote says the sale was closed Aug. 25 to a company headed by current Whitetail Club President John Sabala and Alscott Real Estate LLC of Boise. Sabala is the son-in-law of previous owner Douglas Manchester. Alscott is headed by Joe Scott, who chairs the board of the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation. Scott is the grandson of the late Joe Albertson, who founded the Albertsons grocery chain.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed. The Star-News reported that Alscott is the majority owner and Sabala Whitetail LLC is the minority owner. The sale included the lodge and the golf course.
Manchester in 1989 acquired the former Shore Lodge, fronting Payette Lake in McCall, and later converted it to Whitetail. He completed extensive renovations and added a golf course and housing development.
