Speak with anyone who has had experience managing a factory, and more often than not, they will tell you that the challenges they face are plentiful. However, there are certain aspects of the job that are a little more frustrating than others. The following list entails some of the biggest headaches managers face when running a factory.

    Equipment Problems

As the old saying goes: Time is money. This is certainly the case within any company but more so within a factory. The most frustrating issue that can happen in a factory is the experience of faulty or broken-down equipment. One bad part of the manufacturing line can cause the whole factory to come to a screeching halt. Not only are you going to get an earful from the higher-ups, but it may take hours or even days to have it fixed. This is no doubt one of the biggest headaches any manager can face while managing a large factory.

    Injuries

Fortunately, many large corporations have instilled rigorous guidelines to make injuries less likely within their factories. As the manager of a factory, it is your duty to not only implement these safety guidelines but also make sure that everyone is adhering to them. The, of course, can be very difficult to oversee, as factories tend to be almost twice the length of a football field. Injuries caused by user error or faulty machines can be a huge headache on your part. Even small pinch points can put a worker out of action. Not only do you need to make sure the employee is okay but you’re also down a person, causing you to order an immediate all hands on deck to keep production flowing properly.

    Tech Issues

Factories today are not like the ones from the past. Today client orders and their specific design requests are often loaded right onto machines. Specialized technologies make the production run smoother and faster. However, when tech issues arise, even the most streamlined factories can stop altogether. As a manager, no access to the internet can cause delays in production and even a loss of customers due to the waiting time.

Nobody said that managing a factory was going to be easy, and corporations place a lot of resources finding the right person for the job. However, even the best of the best are not immune to the frequent headaches posted above.
