The west is expansive and beautiful, changing scenery as you move throughout the region. How do you know where to visit so you don’t miss out on any of the awe-inspiring locations the west has to offer? Here are a few places to add to your must-see list.

    Yellowstone

The Old Faithful Geyser, valleys full of wildlife, and Mammoth Hot Springs are just a sampling of the attractions you will find at Yellowstone park. Located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, this national park covers over 3,000 miles and draws people in from around the world every year.

Bike, hike, or ride a horse while taking in this area, and make sure you bring a camera so you can take the memories of Yellowstone home with you.

    Temple Square

Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, is home to Temple Square, a historic site and the headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Its 35 acres include a visitors’ center so guests can plan their trips to see the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the Family History Museum, and the Museum of Church and Art. Free tours are offered, and the holiday season brings this area to life with sparkling lights. Car rentals at the Salt Lake Airport are available right in the airport’s parking garage though the entire area is under construction right now and the exact location may change. Since parking can be difficult, check before you visit.

    Redwood

The majestic trees sitting in the Redwood National and State Parks are a sight to behold, no matter your age. Northern California is home to the several parks that make up what people think of as the Redwoods Park, and visitors flock to this area every year.

Make sure to grab a map at a visitors’ center before hiking to the overlooks and through the canyons. Lodging is available so you can stay immersed in the redwoods your entire stay.

    Shoshone Falls

Shoshone Falls is considered the Niagara of the West, and it’s a must-see destination when you visit the west. Located in Twin Falls, Idaho, visitors can zip line across the Snake River Canyon, go spelunking in the Shoshone Ice Caves, or do some skiing if the season is right. The view of the over 200-foot-high falls is breathtaking, and water lovers can kayak or swim while taking in the beauty.

It’s hard to narrow down all the beauty of the west into a short must-see list, but these locations are a great way to make sure you don’t feel like you missed anything this area has to offer. Enjoy the activities of your choice, and soak up the tranquil scenery of the west.
